Intaglio Self Portrait

Intaglio self portrait.  Intaglio is a printmaking process where lines are etched into copper or acrylic making a relief.  Ink is applied to the plate and wiped off. The ink stays in the scratches but is wiped clear from the smooth surfaces of the plate. A damp paper is then put on top of the plate and both are run through a press.  The image directly below is of the acrylic plate. The plate was etched with an exacto knife. The picture is self matted and framed. The frame is made from redwood.

Linocuts

Two linoleum relief prints. Polygon Mountain and Cabin with Red Trees. After printing, the prints where painted using watercolors. I also made the frames from redwood and matted the prints.

Cabin with Red Trees' carved linoleum block. The block is printed much like you would a rubber stamp.

Columns and Bridge for Fourth of July Float

Last summer I was in charge of building and painting columns for a 4th of July parade float. The columns are made from Sonotubes, foam pool noodles, ribbed hose and wood.

I also painted the deck of a plywood bridge to look like real wood.  The bridge was a replica of a bridge in our town that turned 150 years old this last year.
